The traditional western art history canon omits numerous artists whose contributions to the art world are staggering. Moving from the renaissance to contemporary art, we will look at female, queer and nonbinary, and artists of color through a survey of the non-traditional canon. We will also discuss the reasons access was restricted for artists of these groups, and the major movements that they became a part of. We will move right into the contemporary sphere, discussing current artists as well.
