9am-12pm (ages 12-15)
2pm-5pm (ages 16-19)
$375 tuition for the week, $50 materials
Art Immersion with Famous Artists from Around the World:
Delve into our 3 hour art class where each day of the week will feature a different artist and medium. Learn skills and techniques used by these artists to create your own unique artworks. Meet new friends who share your passion for creative expression, and come home with five completed artworks and more knowledge about those inspiring artists. Bring a snack and water for a short break.
Day One: Celebrate Sunflowers & still life with Vincent Van Gogh (19th century post Impressionist) inspired acrylic paintings on canvas, using expressive impasto brushwork and vibrant color.
Day Two: ‘Meet' 20th century American sculptor Louise Nevelson, and be inspired to create wooden assemblages as she did.
Day Three: Say hello to early 20th century French artist Henri Matisse, and ‘draw with scissors’ to make your own cut out colored paper collages, as well as oil pastel Fauvist portraits.
Day Four: 20th century American artist Alexander Calder invented mobiles (using abstract shapes), and also made whimsical circus themed wire sculptures. Try your hand at these!
Day Five: 20th century Spanish artist Pablo Picasso was very inventive, he created Cubism and other new approaches to his subjects. Bring in a photo of someone which we will interpret in several Picasso inspired styles.
All materials provided.
Marla Faith is a Nashville artist (marlafaith.com), who has over 40 years teaching experience in schools and museums in Nashville New York, and Chicago.
** Classes are transferrable, but not refundable.
